EMS Test Prep Tool for the iPhone
EMS instructors can be very creative when it comes to identifying new ways to better prepare students for their state or national certification exam. Until now we were restricted to developing our own test prep exams or recommending printed preparatory books. You know what I’m talking about, the test prep books that the students carry with them everywhere they go and flip through answering questions until the pages are tattered and falling out of the book. Well those days may soon be coming to an end. Recently I discovered a new age product that will surely become very popular among EMS students in a very short time.
Dan Limmer, an accomplished EMS educator and author, has developed an iPhone application called EMT Review. This application contains high quality, synthesis type questions that closely resemble the type of questions found on state and national certification exams. EMT Review consists of 150 questions based on the new education standards broken down into practical categories. The application allows students to take an entire exam at once or choose a particular category to review. After answering each test question, the application provides instant feedback and offers rationale which reinforces knowledge and understanding of the concepts related to the question.
EMT Review is available for purchase on the iTunes Store for only $3.99 (a fraction of the cost of most test prep books). Paramedic Review will offer the same functionality and be available on iTunes within the next month.
